In Thai, coconut chips are called ma praw ob krob, and they're the snack that started the Dang journey. At Dang, we're brothers Vincent and Andrew, living between NYC and Bangkok, and we named the company after our mom (แดง) to share uniquely Asian-American snacks with the flavors and ingredients we love. We make these chips in Thailand, and we enhance the coconut's natural sweetness with a dash of cane sugar and salt.
Snack straight from the bag, or add a satisfying crunch to your smoothie bowl, salad or yogurt. They're also good scattered over oatmeal, ice cream or acai bowls, added to protein shakes, or tucked into a kids' lunch box. Dang, that's good!
Ingredients: COCONUT, CANE SUGAR, SEA SALT.
Common Questions
What are coconut chips?
Coconut chips are thin slices of coconut meat cooked until crisp, and our Dang Original Recipe Toasted Coconut Chips are the toasted Thai kind, with a sweet and toasty crunch. In Thai they're called ma praw ob krob. They're larger and crunchier than shredded or desiccated coconut, so they work as a snack by the handful as well as a topping. Coconut chips are the snack that started Dang.
What's a lower-sugar alternative to apple chips?
Our Dang Original Recipe Toasted Coconut Chips have 50% less sugar than apple chips. A 30 g serving has 10.5 g of sugar, while the same serving of apple chips has 21 g. Dried fruit chips concentrate the fruit's own sugars, and coconut meat starts out much less sweet than apple. We bring out the natural sweetness of the coconut with a dash of cane sugar and a pinch of salt. We started Dang to make snacks that make it easier to avoid sugar without giving up taste.
What can I add to a smoothie bowl or yogurt for crunch?
Toasted coconut chips like our Dang Original Recipe are an easy way to add a satisfying crunch to smoothie bowls, acai bowls, yogurt and salads. They also go well on oatmeal, ice cream and protein shakes, and they fit in kids' lunch boxes. Scatter them on just before eating, since toppings soften once they sit in something wet. The 3.17 oz (90 g) bag is resealable, so you can close it back up and use a handful at a time.
What are the ingredients in Dang Original Coconut Chips?
Dang Original Recipe Toasted Coconut Chips have three ingredients: coconut, cane sugar and sea salt. The coconut is the main ingredient; the cane sugar and sea salt are there to round out its flavor. There are no preservatives.
Are Dang coconut chips vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free?
Yes, our Dang Original Recipe Toasted Coconut Chips are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free. They're also non-GMO, a certification we declare for this product. Nothing but the good stuff.
Where do the coconuts in Dang coconut chips come from?
The coconuts in our Dang Original Recipe Toasted Coconut Chips are mature Thai coconuts, and the chips are made in Thailand. We harvest the coconuts, slice up the meat and toast it using a recipe that's true to our roots. Mature coconuts have firmer, thicker meat than young green coconuts, which is what lets the slices toast into crisp chips.
